Community Rooting Together
In Hunting Park - East Tioga, we know the complexities of navigating equitable regeneration in a neighborhood. Through our process of building a community-led Philanthropic organization that facilitates the larger work needed to build collaborative work between funders and investors based on the real needs in the community.
When funding the long-term outcomes of a specific catchment, we know there are many areas that are threaded together: wellness and green-space, safety and violence, trash and workforce development. It takes a collaboration of many partners to really catalyze the economic mobility of a whole community toward an equitable balance.

H. Chase Lenfest Philanthropy’s mission is to transform the Hunting Park-East Tioga neighborhood in North Philadelphia by strategically investing in community-centered initiatives that revitalize the neighborhood, enhance its health and safety, and empower young people.
Through our mission, we partner with local organizations to enable residents, foster sustainable growth, and create vibrant, equitable neighborhoods where current and future generations can thrive.
Philadelphia leaders are working to gain economic mobility across a city that has moved from the highest to the second-highest poverty rate among the 10 most populated cities in the US. We are excited to see the support of the Pew Charitable Trust bringing the Philadelphia Horticultural Society (PHS) to increase beauty, land access, and resources that support community health and well-being.
